REGISTERED DIETITIAN, MATERNAL & PEDIATRIC NUTRITION, INFANT FEEDING

Soleina Karamali, RD

Soleina is a Registered Dietitian of British Columbia. She graduated in 2017 from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor’s of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health (Major Dietetics).

Soleina has worked for the past 5 years as a clinical pediatric dietitian at BC Children’s Hospital. She has extensive experience in many areas of pediatric nutrition, but has always had a keen interest in infant and child feeding. Soleina was fortunate to be able to foster this interest when she joined the Complex Feeding and Nutrition team at BC Children’s Hospital in 2019 (this is also where she met Rochelle!). Soleina has completed additional training in the Sequential Oral Sensory Approach to Feeding, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Ellyn Satter Division of Responsibilities to further her understanding of pediatric feeding disorders.

Like many other parents, Soleina and her husband experienced their own feeding challenges as they tried to navigate the many differing opinions on how best to nourish their baby. During a vulnerable period of time following birth, Soleina felt that there was a gap in services and support that integrated both her baby’s health with her own goals for herself and family. It was during maternity leave that Soleina realized that she wanted to be that support person that she felt was lacking during her own journey.

Soleina uses a holistic, evidence-based approach when working with clients to ensure the whole family is nourished. She is experienced in the growth pattern of infants and empathizes with the feeling that your child is not eating “enough”. Her goal when working with families is to support caregivers to feel confident in their child’s feeding abilities and growth and to help make mealtimes more enjoyable!

Soleina spends her time outside of work chasing her very busy boys, trying to cultivate a love for running, and visiting all the tastiest bakeries Vancouver has to offer!
